Job summary

Kier Group is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Thames Water – Maple Lodge STW team based in Rickmansworth. You will lead day-to-day commercial management of key packages, ensuring robust cost control and accurate reporting on a major water infrastructure upgrade.

This senior role involves mentoring junior staff, managing subcontract procurement from tender through final account, and deputising for the Commercial Manager to deliver the scheme from construction through to final

Qualifications

• Have proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or strong Quantity Surveyor on major civil engineering, process or water infrastructure projects
• Possess a strong understanding of contract management and change control
• Can demonstrate experience managing subcontract packages through the full commercial lifecycle
• Are highly competent in CVRs, cost forecasting, financial reporting and commercial governance
• Have excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills with the ability to mentor junior commercial staff

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial and financial aspects of allocated works packages, ensuring adherence to contract terms and internal governance
• Preparing and maintaining detailed cost forecasts, cashflow projections, and variance analyses with accurate and timely reporting
• Leading change management processes including valuation, justification, and agreement of variations
• Managing procurement and administration of subcontract packages from tender enquiry through to final account settlement
• Providing guidance and technical support to Quantity Surveyors and Assistant QSs, reviewing their outputs and supporting their development

We're looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Thames Water – Maple Lodge STW team based in Rickmansworth.

Location: Maple Lodge STW, Rickmansworth
Hours: Full time - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a major water infrastructure upgrade project, supporting and deputising for the Commercial Manager. You'll lead day-to-day commercial management of key packages, ensuring robust cost control, supply chain management, and accurate reporting. As a senior member of the commercial team, you'll provide guidance to colleagues while contributing to the commercial success of this significant scheme from construction through to final account.

What will you be responsible for?
