Job summary

AVI-SPL, Inc. is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial and contractual aspects of AV projects across a portfolio of installations. You will assess completed work, manage changes, forecast finances, and drive timely invoicing and final accounts.

Working with Project Managers, Site Managers and stakeholders, you will ensure contractual compliance, accurate forecasting and strong financial performance to deliver profitable, on-time project outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Quantity Surveying or related commercial management.
  • Familiar with NEC, JCT, FIDIC and bespoke AV contracts.
  • Experience with budgets, forecasting, cost reports and financial controls.
  • Excellent numeracy, negotiation and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication with project teams, clients and suppliers.
  • Proficient in Office 365.
  • Experience with project scheduling software.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct contract reviews and interpret commercial requirements of the agreement.
  • Review and interpret FIDIC, JCT, and bespoke client contracts.
  • Review procurement and subcontractor packages and payments.
  • Assess, value and authorise subcontractor payments.
  • Measure and value work on-site and ensure AV installations are accounted for.
  • Prepare valuations, progress applications and invoices as per contracts.
  • Produce monthly cost reports and financial forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain project cash flow forecasts.
  • Identify, notify and track changes, variations and compensation events.
  • Prepare estimates and quotations for additional works.
  • Negotiate changes to maintain profitability.
  • Maintain cost records with PM and Site Manager.
  • Support project accounting with monthly performance reporting.
  • Assist in negotiating final accounts.
  • Conduct regular site visits to verify measurements and opportunities.
  • Build relationships with internal teams, clients and subcontractors.
  • Provide commercial insights to senior leadership.

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of AV projects, ensuring accurate assessment of completed work, effective change control, and maximised financial performance across a portfolio of installations. Support project teams through contract reviews, cost management, and risk assessment to ensure profitable, and on-time delivery.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of AV projects, ensuring accurate assessment of completed work, effective change control, and maximised financial performance across a portfolio of installations. Support project teams through contract reviews, cost management, and risk assessment to ensure profitable, and on-time delivery.

Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and operational stakeholders, the Quantity Surveyor will support the successful commercial delivery of AV projects, ensuring effective change management, contractual compliance, accurate forecasting, timely invoicing, and successful agreement of final accounts.

Day-To-Day Responsibilities:
  • Conduct contract reviews upon project award, ensuring the project team understands the commercial and contractual requirements of the agreement
  • Review and interpret FIDIC, JCT, and bespoke client contracts, ensuring compliance throughout project delivery
  • Review procurement and subcontractor packages, securing the best commercial terms and assessing subcontractor payments
  • Assess, value, and authorise subcontractor payments based on completed work and contractual terms.
  • Measure and assess the value of work completed on-site, ensuring all AV installations, equipment deliveries, and commissioning milestones are accounted for.
  • Prepare and submit valuations, progress applications, and invoices in line with the project contract terms.
  • Produce accurate monthly cost reports and financial forecasts, tracking performance against project budgets.
  • Develop and maintain project cash flow forecasts to support financial planning.
  • Identify, notify, and track changes, variations, and compensation events as soon as they arise, in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Prepare estimates and quotations for additional works, ensuring maximum commercial return.
  • Assess and negotiate the value of changes to maintain profitability.
  • Maintain accurate cost records in collaboration with the Project Manager and Site Manager.
  • Manage and oversee the commercial and contractual aspects of the project, acting as the main point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the project accounting team with monthly performance and financial reporting.
  • Assist in negotiating and agreeing final accounts to ensure maximum value retention upon project completion.
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure completed work is accurately measured and any new opportunities are identified.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Provide commercial insights to senior leadership, advising on potential improvements, strategies, and risk mitigation.
  • Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organisation, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must-Haves:
  • Professional experience in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard contracts, including the New Engineering Contract (NEC), Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT), International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) and Bespoke AV contracts.
  • Experience managing budgets, cost reports, and forecasting for technical projects.
  • Ability to analyse, measure, and value work completed in line with contract terms.
  • Skilled in negotiating with clients and subcontractors to maximise commercial outcomes.
  • Excellent numerical, negotiation, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communicator, able to collaborate with project teams, clients, and suppliers.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to work under pressure.
  • Proficient in Office 365 applications.
  • Experience with project scheduling software
Nice-To-Haves:
  • Experience with project document control repositories (e.g., Aconex) is a plus
  • Experience with project management and commercial systems is desirable
  • Experience working within AV, construction, technology integration, or a related project-based industry
  • RICS chartered Quantity Surveyor.
  • 5+ years post chartership experience with multiple standard construction forms (JCT, FIDIC, NEC, ICC, RIAI etc.), ideally in different industries and countries but not required.
  • Experience managing and resolving complex payment, valuation, variation and final account disputes, including negotiation, mediation and support of adjudication, arbitration or litigation proceedings; and
  • An additional European language preferred.
