Job summary

Intersect Global Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Southern Region team. Based in Kent, you will oversee commercial activities on highways projects and support the regional delivery teams.

You will manage profitability, costs, and risk for contracts, procure subcontractors, and certify payments while mentoring junior staff. A driving licence and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Experience as an SQS on civil engineering projects, preferably highways
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for regional role
• Experience with NEC contracts

Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Kent

Our client, a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor working across the UK, is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Southern Region team. Initial projects include a £12m Highways scheme in Folkestone and a major new Entry/Exit System infrastructure project at the Port of Dover.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting and mentoring junior staff
• Maximising profitability on contracts
• Monitoring contract costs against budgets
• Identifying potential risks and evaluating options for control
• Preparing cost estimates
• Procuring sub-contractors, including preparation of subcontract documents
• Assessing and certifying interim and final payments to subcontractors
• Preparing and agreeing main contract variations

What We're Looking For

• An ambitious individual with excellent communication skills and a flexible approach
• Innovative problem-solving skills and the ability to negotiate across all levels of a construction environment
• Strong numeracy and IT skills
• Experience working on civil engineering schemes with a main contractor on Highways works
• Experience as an SQS working with the NEC form of contract
• Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel for this regional role
