Job summary

First Base Employment Ltd, on behalf of a leading aerospace and defence company, is recruiting a Senior Quality Engineer to join the Derby team. The role focuses on aerospace qualification processes, FAIR documentation, quality planning and continuous improvement.

You will own key quality activities in a precision engineering environment, working with cross-functional teams to ensure customer and regulatory requirements are met and driving improvements across the QMS.

Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace quality engineering is essential.
• Experience preparing, reviewing and managing FAIR documentation per AS9102.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP requirements.
• Experience leading internal, customer and third-party quality audits.
• Proven ability to drive corrective actions using 8D and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the Quality Management System to AS9100, NADCAP and customer requirements.
• Lead and support FAIRs per AS9102, ensuring aerospace qualification and customer needs are met.
• Develop and maintain PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Charts and PPAP documentation.
• Lead internal, customer and NADCAP audits and ensure audit readiness and compliance.
• Manage non-conformances and corrective actions using structured problem-solving.
• Support New Product Introduction with engineering, manufacturing and planning teams to meet quality requirements.
• Monitor quality KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
• Provide guidance to colleagues to promote a culture of quality and accountability.
