Job summary

IonQ in Oxford is seeking a Senior QPU Design Engineer to join the Processor Design team. You will integrate features to operate quantum computers into complex chips, working with scientists and fabrication engineers to bring ion trapping designs to production.

You will drive the full design process, from requirements through tape-out, with hands-on layout and cross-team collaboration in a fast-moving, highly technical environment.

Qualifications

• Experience translating design requirements into features.
• Hands-on layout experience with multi-layer chips.
• Collaborate across teams to discuss requirements and set specs.
• Capable of leading projects independently and delivering tape-out.

Responsibilities

• Guide chips through design from requirements to layout and tape-out.
• Layout multi-layer chips, routing metal tracks, interfacing with photonics and CMOS.
• Collaborate with scientists to define specifications.
• Coordinate with teams to ensure feasibility and compatibility.
• Take ownership of projects and deliver the final tape-out.
