Job summary

Oxford Quantum Circuits, a leader in superconducting quantum processors, seeks a Quantum Engineer specializing in QPU design to drive the next generation of devices. You will design and simulate processor architectures, contribute to the QPU toolchain, and collaborate with researchers across disciplines.

This role involves experimental data analysis, software development and translating complex physics into practical design decisions, with occasional travel for conferences and collaborations.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent multi-year commercial/R&D experience in quantum systems.
  • Experience designing superconducting quantum processors, including circuit layout and EM simulation.
  • Strong knowledge of microwave engineering and superconducting circuit theory.
  • Experience in at least one related quantum field (qubits, resonators, detectors, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Design and simulate novel superconducting QPUs, optimizing architectures and device performance.
  • Maintain and improve QPU design toolchain and simulation methods.
  • Analyze experimental data to guide design decisions and report findings.
  • Lead research projects from design through to analysis and documentation.
  • Collaborate across teams and present results at conferences and publications.
