Job summary

Oxford Quantum Circuits is building leading-edge superconducting quantum processors and invites a Senior Quantum Engineer to join the QSER team, driving complex research from concept to recommendations. You’ll work across the full scientific lifecycle and influence the roadmap for future quantum processing units.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate experimental programmes across cryogenic systems and measurement infrastructure, and help develop the team while delivering impactful results.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in physics, quantum engineering, or related field.
• Experience owning research projects involving measurement and operation of quantum systems.
• Hands-on experience running experimental quantum measurements in academic or industrial settings.
• Experience creating or running simulations of quantum or RF properties of superconducting circuits.
• Strong software development skills in Python for automation and data analysis.
• Ability to analyze complex data and translate results into technical recommendations.
• Project leadership skills including resource scheduling and budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex scientific research projects from initial concept to implementation and recommendations.
• Design, simulate and characterize novel superconducting components for quantum processors.
• Measure, calibrate and benchmark superconducting quantum circuits with performance metrics.
• Lead investigations into alternative qubit architectures and packaging approaches.
• Coordinate scheduling and resourcing of cryogenic and measurement infrastructure.
• Shape the QSER technology roadmap and report progress and priorities.
• Mentor Quantum Engineers and represent OQC at conferences and collaborations.
