Job summary

chip in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior QA Engineer, Performance & Scalability to own performance across 30+ microservices and event-driven flows. This role defines thresholds and pass/fail criteria from day one, embedding performance into delivery rather than tacking it on at release.

You’ll design tests, automate in CI/CD, and work with Datadog, Grafana, and CloudWatch. Expect collaboration across engineering, platform, and product teams, building reusable assets and driving outcomes

Qualifications

• 5+ years in performance engineering owning performance across complex systems.
• Hands-on experience designing realistic load models and interpreting results.
• Deep knowledge of k6 for building and running tests.
• Experience with monitoring/observability using Datadog, Grafana or CloudWatch.
• Strong programming ability; TypeScript preferred, other languages OK.
• Experience with microservices and testing in isolation.
• CI/CD fluency; AWS infrastructure experience preferred.
• Strong communication and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Embed performance thinking into delivery plans from day one.
• Define thresholds, metrics, and SLOs for pass/fail criteria.
• Design performance tests for services with isolated scope.
• Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Build reusable test assets and data seeding for realism.
• Root-cause regressions with logs and traces across distributed systems.
• Engage stakeholders to turn findings into fixes and outcomes.
• Raise performance risks early and influence design decisions.
