Job summary

Octopus Energy Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Python) to join our product and engineering team powering our electric car leasing platform.

You’ll design robust APIs, evolve scalable backend data models, and work across multiple data sources, with occasional frontend contributions. Our stack includes Python, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL on AWS, with a React/Next.js frontend; we value ownership, collaboration, and long‑term maintainability.

Qualifications

• Strong Python expertise and APIs design experience.
• Experience with GraphQL and multi-datasource backends.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
• Ownership of features from inception to delivery.
• Ability to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust APIs integrating internal and external services to automate core processes.
• Architect and evolve backend systems and data models for performance and scalability.
• Work with multiple data sources to design expressive, structured schemas.
• Contribute to frontend work to shape user-friendly experiences.
• Write maintainable, well-factored code.
• Share knowledge, mentor others, and raise team performance.
