Job summary

Preply is seeking a Senior Back-End Engineer in London to join a hybrid Engineering team. You will develop backend features using Python/Django, integrate with external services, and help shape scalable architectures in collaboration with Product, Design, and Data Analytics.

You will balance speed with quality, mentor teammates, and drive best practices, including test culture, code reviews, and monitoring, while working in a diverse, fast-growing company that values learning and growth.

Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale web applications and APIs.
• Experience applying AI in development and testing.
• Willingness to work with JS/TS tasks.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication in English (minimum B2).
• On-call availability (1 week every 5 weeks).

Responsibilities

• Develop backend features using Python/Django and integrations with third-party services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define solutions for customers.
• Balance rapid development with long-term quality and scalability.
