Job summary

Steeper is seeking a Prosthetist for the Kent and Medway Prosthetic Centre in Maidstone. You will assess patients, measure, cast, fit and deliver personalised prostheses within a modern clinical environment.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, prescribing prosthetics and ensuring durability, alignment and comfort, while maintaining high standards of governance and patient welfare.

Qualifications

• HPCP registered prosthetic clinician with clinical experience desirable.
• Minimum 3 years clinical experience as a Prosthetist.
• Experience in lower limb and upper limb prosthetics prescribing.
• BSc Hons in Prosthetic and Orthotics or equivalent for HPCP registration.
• Proficient with Word, PowerPoint, Excel; good presentation skills.
• Experience with CAD systems desirable.
• Good communicator; relevant qualifications or professional memberships.
• DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of prosthetic needs through clinical examination, gait analysis, and evaluation of functional goals.
• Measure, cast, fit and deliver prostheses tailored to individual needs.
• Monitor and maintain the fit and mechanical performance of prostheses over time, addressing issues proactively.
• Lead prescribing appropriate prosthetic interventions and provide clear information to patients, families and carers.
• Work within the multidisciplinary team and participate in case discussions, joint clinics and patient reviews.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records and work in accordance with HCPC, clinical governance, GDPR and Data Protection requirements.
• Participate in clinical audits, service evaluation, quality improvement and service development.
• Support and mentor prosthetic students and junior colleagues through supervision, teaching and feedback.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, patient welfare, health and safety, infection control and professional conduct.
