Job summary

The Kent and Medway Prosthetic Centre, operated by Steeper Group, provides prosthetic and orthotic care within a new clinic. The prosthetist will assess patients, measure and fit devices, and participate in prescribing decisions as part of a multidisciplinary team with physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

Registration with HPCP as a prosthetic clinician and at least three years of clinical prosthetics experience are required to deliver high-quality patient care within this centre.

Qualifications

• BSc Hons in Prosthetics and Orthotics or equivalent.
• HPCP registration as a prosthetic clinician.
• Minimum 3 years clinical experience as a prosthetist.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' prosthetic needs through clinical examination and gait analysis.
• Measure, cast, fit and deliver prostheses for alignment, comfort and durability.
• Monitor fit and mechanical performance over time and prevent complications.
• Take the lead in prescribing prosthetic interventions.
• Work as a core member of the multidisciplinary team.
• Communicate clearly with colleagues, patients, families and carers.
• Give clear instructions to technical staff on making or modifying devices.
