Job summary

Environment Agency in the South West seeks a Project Team Manager to lead a technical team, oversee delivery of flood risk and environmental projects, and mentor staff. You will manage recruitment, resource planning, onboarding, and performance, working with stakeholders and partners to ensure projects stay on track.

The role requires significant line management experience, strong interpersonal skills and ability to drive strategic priorities within the South West region, including participation

Qualifications

• A degree (or equivalent) in engineering, geography, business/project management or related field, ideally with chartered membership.
• Significant line management experience, ideally within engineering/construction or flood & coastal risk management.
• Technical knowledge to manage a technical team delivering hydrology, river modelling, feasibility assessment and asset management.
• Proven track record delivering results through others in a challenging environment via a technical team.
• Ability to mentor and support teams in delivering their work.
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to foster collaboration and deliver strategic goals.

Responsibilities

• Line management of a technical team, including recruitment, resource planning, onboarding and inductions.
• Provide training, coaching and mentoring to help your team thrive.
• Oversee a portfolio of work, keep projects on track and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Build relationships across the department and organisation for smooth project delivery.
• Contribute to regional priorities as part of the South West Leadership Team and a national Community of Practice.
