We are seeking a tourism professional with excellent project management skills to join us as we lead the South Yorkshire Local Visitor Economy Partnership (SYLVEP).
Sheffield City Council is recognized by Visit England as the lead authority for South Yorkshire on this national project. We collaborate with tourism leads across the four South Yorkshire local authorities and with the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.
Your focus will be on managing the growth plan for SYLVEP and contributing to the delivery of the South Yorkshire Destination Management Plan.
The work of SYLVEP supports national tourism strategies. Your report writing, presentation, and communication skills will be essential in promoting South Yorkshire’s messages to key stakeholders across the region.
It’s important to note that SYLVEP is not responsible for marketing—that remains with individual partners. Instead, the role involves supporting visitor economy businesses—tourism, culture, events, hospitality, and more—to grow, connecting them to national initiatives, identifying regional opportunities, and strengthening the visitor economy to make it market-ready.
If you have knowledge of the tourism industry, are skilled at multi-tasking, and can meet deadlines, we want to hear from you.
We are committed to investing in our workforce and promoting opportunities for under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity, and inclusion, aiming to increase the diversity of our team, particularly among Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled, and LGBTQ+ communities. We also support flexible working arrangements for staff with unpaid caring responsibilities.
