Job summary

Galliford Try in Cardiff is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead end-to-end delivery of projects within prison and secure estate environments. You will develop plans, programmes and budgets, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and build strong relationships with governors and custodial staff.

This role requires proven experience delivering complex projects, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to maintain regulatory and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager delivering complex projects.
• Experience working within prisons, custodial environments, or the secure estate (essential).
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies.
• Experience managing project budgets, programmes, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
• Strong problem solving, negotiation, and decision making abilities.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel where required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of projects within prison and secure estate environments.
• Develop and manage project plans, programmes, budgets, and risk registers.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and external suppliers.
• Build strong relationships with prison governors, custodial staff, government representatives, and client stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with security protocols, health and safety legislation, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage project governance, reporting, and performance against key milestones.
• Identify and mitigate project risks while maintaining operational continuity.
• Monitor budgets, control costs, and manage change effectively.
• Ensure projects meet quality standards and client expectations.
• Support business development by identifying opportunities for service improvement and future work.
