Job summary

Galliford Try Group in Cardiff is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex construction projects across multiple sites, prioritising safety, quality and budget performance. You will manage prison and secure estate projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires extensive project management experience, excellent stakeholder skills and willingness to travel. A UK driving licence and security clearance eligibility are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager delivering complex projects.
• Experience in prisons, custodial environments, or the secure estate.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies.
• Experience managing project budgets, programmes, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel where required.

Responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of projects within prison and secure estate environments.
• Develop and manage project plans, programmes, budgets, and risk registers.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and external suppliers.
• Build relationships with governors, custodial staff, government representatives, and client stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with security protocols, health and safety legislation, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage project governance, reporting, and performance against milestones.
• Identify and mitigate project risks while maintaining operational continuity.
• Monitor budgets, control costs, and manage change.
• Ensure projects meet quality standards and client expectations.
• Support business development by identifying opportunities for service improvement and future work.
