We are actively looking to recruit an NEC Supervisor to join our Project & Programme Management team. As part of our team, you'll play a major role in supporting a variety of flood defence and adaptation projects, supporting our clients with the protection and enhancement of environmental matters across England.

The role itself sits within our Global Business Area, Resilience, where we work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we're feeling the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we're seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires is becoming more frequent. Working collaboratively within the integrated delivery team as NEC Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking the duties of Supervisor as stated in the Contract.
  • Acquainting yourself with the Supplier's design and raising queries regarding constructability in terms of safety and quality.
  • Reviewing the Supplier's Inspection and Test Plans to agree witnessing requirements.
  • Witnessing on-site testing and commissioning and keeping appropriate records of results.
  • Identifying and notifying any Defects in accordance with the Contract.
  • Verifying that the standards of work and the materials supplied by the contractor are as specified in accordance with the Contract.
  • Monitoring the progress of the works and advising the Client Project Manager of any risks and issues.
  • Submitting weekly reports to the Client Project Manager to advise on progress and the status of construction-related safety, quality, and completion issues.
  • Maintaining appropriate records of site inspections, tests, and audits.
  • Attending meetings and inspections, both on and off-site as required.
  • Contributing to maintaining high standards of safety and quality control, resolving technical problems on site, and representing the company professionally.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Civil Engineering, Utilities, Water, Aviation, Environment, Infrastructure project experience.
  • Experience in carrying out duties of an NEC Supervisor, with up-to-date knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Good writing, client-facing, and communication skills.
  • Diligent, proactive, and thorough approach to detail.
  • Collaborative and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Membership of or working towards; Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Association of Project Managers (APM), or Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).
  • Educated to degree or equivalent, preferably in engineering or environmental disciplines.
  • Desired: Flood Risk Management experience and/or a background within Civil Engineering.
