Job Description:

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager as a 6-month contract role with a possible extension, based in Severn Beach, Bristol. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development of innovative products, overseeing all stages from planning to successful launch and initial deliveries. Your ability to ensure a seamless, cross-functional process is key, with flexibility to collaborate remotely and across different business units. As a role model, you will promote and enhance project management and product development practices, while investing in the growth and development of your teammates. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage project deliverables according to the stage-gate development process.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to monitor progress, costs, risks, and issues at the business level.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure project schedule, quality, features, and costs meet business requirements.
  • Coordinate with Marketing, Sales, Service, and Operations to ensure a smooth release and transition to routine shipping.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous process improvement and the development of new processes and tools.

Generic Responsibilities:

  • Drive project delivery while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Manage own work effectively, proactively removing roadblocks for self and others, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Lead project meetings, manage tasks, and communicate status, risks, and issues clearly.
  • Maintain good task estimation and schedule tracking, seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage project risks through active mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Ensure the project team understands and manages to project requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships, even remotely or through challenging times.
  • Work effectively in a matrixed and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Manage stakeholders at a senior level, providing honest feedback on issues and delivery dates.
  • Proactively manage project and product costs.
  • Be flexible and able to deploy skills across different business units and remotely.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Degree
  • Training in Project Management

Professional Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven track record in delivering product development projects in high-tech environments.
  • Flexibility to work across product lines, business units, locations, and remotely.
  • Experience with project management tools, issue tracking, and status reporting.
  • Broad business knowledge including manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, quality, and service.
  • Understanding of stage-gate project oversight processes.
  • Experience managing complex, multi-functional projects.
  • Ability to work effectively remotely and deliver projects without being in the same location.

  • Ownership of projects, focused on delivery within cost, time, and quality expectations.
  • Bravery to lead, communicate, and address issues proactively.
