Job summary

px Engineering Consultants Limited, the engineering consultancy division of the px group, is recruiting a Senior Project Manager. You’ll receive personalised on-the-job training, coaching, mentoring, and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to support your contributions and competence.

You’ll lead multi-disciplinary project teams, manage schedules and budgets, liaise with clients, and drive delivery of heavy engineering projects while ensuring safety, quality, and contract compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• Strong experience in project roles and delivery within an engineering environment.
• Formal Project Management qualification (PMP or equivalent).
• Experience in heavy engineering projects (large lifts and heavy steelwork).
• Ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications.
• Excellent scheduling skills using MS Project or P6 and MRP systems.

Responsibilities

• Determine Clients requirements and translate into an actionable plan.
• Ensure project runs on time and to budget.
• Deliver expected business outcomes for the project.
• Identify and manage risk throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage changes to contractual scope and align with contract requirements.
• Coordinate work and motivate project team members.
• Act as main point of contact for the client.
• Coach and mentor project team members.
• Develop and maintain project management processes.
• Create and control detailed project schedules in MS Project/P6 or equivalent.
• Oversee daily management of project and engineering teams.
• Collaborate with finance to log, monitor and forecast budgets.

Engineering services are delivered for the px group by the engineering consultancy division px Engineering Consultants Limited (“PXECL”). The team comprises of managers, senior engineers, engineers and designers that have direct experience of construction projects and operating facilities, as well as exceptional engineering expertise.

The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Senior Project Manager.

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities

• Determine Clients requirements and translate them into actionable plan
• Ensure project is running on time and to budget
• Make sure project delivers expected business outcomes
• Identify and manage risk
• Deal with changes to contractual scope
• Ensure work is carries out to px standards and contract requirements
• Co-ordinate work and motivate team members
• Act as main point of contact for client
• Coaching and Mentoring of project team members
• Assist with developing and maintain project management processes
• Compile and control a detailed schedules in MS Project/ P6 or equivalent
• Daily Management of Project & Engineering teams to enable project delivery
• Work with financial controller to log, monitor and control budget, forecast in Excel as a live document for weekly reporting
• Control & maintain client relationships whilst also exploiting opportunities for growth (VO’s, TQ’s, EWR’s & Schedule)
• Drive Supply Chain team to ensure long lead items are specified and bought to achieve schedule and cost
• Review bid documentation and contract to prepare and own handover process from proposal to projects – ensuring contractual requirements are fully understood
• Write Project Execution Plan in line with client requirements

• Degree qualified, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering
• Strong experience in project roles, holding a formal Project Management qualification (PMP or equivalent)
• Project management experience in a Engineering environment is essential, preferably in a heavy engineering (large lifts and heavy steelwork)
• Effective at planning, monitoring and reviewing
• Understand engineering drawings and specifications
• Strong computer skills including scheduling experience preferably in MS Project/P6 and MRP experience, preferably SAP
