Job summary

px Group in Stockton on Tees is seeking a Project Engineer to deliver defined engineering projects across multiple phases. You will align with client requirements, internal standards, and contribute to new business opportunities.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage technical risks, and coordinate with clients, contractors and regulators. Training and biannual reviews support career development within PXECL.

Qualifications

  • HNC in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Relevant experience in project engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering design principles, construction practices and relevant industry codes.
  • Excellent communication skills and a track record of leading cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Knowledge of DSEAR/ATEX, hazardous area classification, and CDM roles.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multi disciplinary teams to execute engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with scope and schedule.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors and regulatory bodies to confirm project objectives and deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between clients and pxE for project issues.
  • Identify and manage technical risks and ensure health, safety and environmental standards are met.
  • Ensure projects comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements with thorough documentation.
  • Develop and review project proposals and plans to align with business objectives.
  • Review project scope, schedules and client specifications at handover and manage deliverables.
  • Engage with clients to understand and represent their needs in the field.
  • Gather and analyse project data to create status reports for delivery meetings.

The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Project Engineer to join our team in the Stockton Office.

The primary function of the role is to provide delivery of defined engineering projects for a range of project types and phases to the highest standards, complying with legal obligations, px internal standards and client requirements. Also to support the development of proposals for new business opportunities.

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project scope, engineering schedules and client specifications upon project handover and manage these deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Engage with clients to understand and represent their needs and requirements in the field.
  • Gather and analyse project data to create status reports and contribute to regular project delivery meetings.
Minimum Requirements
  • HNC in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Relevant experience in project engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering design principles, construction practices and relevant industry codes.
  • Excellent communication skills and a track record of leading cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Strong analytical abilities to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving project scopes and industry trends, with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Experience in engineering design within Concepts, FEEDs and Detailed Design project phases.
  • Dedicated to fostering continuous improvement, accountability and a results-focused culture, guided by measurable KPIs.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including OneDrive and SharePoint.
  • Organisational, time management, leadership, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of DSEAR/ATEX, hazardous area classification, and related equipment design.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, policies, standards and best practices.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of Designer, Principal Designer, and Principal Contractor under CDM regulations.
