Imperial Recruitment Group is recruiting exclusively for pxEngineering as their retained partner on this appointment.
The Senior Project Manager directs, manages and coordinates the execution and delivery of high-profile projects for pxEngineering, ensuring efficient control of clients, scope and cost, and that deadlines are consistently met in a fast-paced environment. The role works closely with project teams, setting goals and reporting key project KPIs and metrics. This is a full-time, days-based role with frequent travel and line management responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Control
- Translate client requirements into actionable plans and compile detailed schedules in MS Project/P6 or equivalent
- Ensure projects run on time and to budget, delivering the expected business outcomes
- Identify and manage risk, and handle changes to contractual scope
- Provide daily management of project and engineering teams, ensuring work meets px standards and contract requirements
Commercial & Contract Management
- Work with the Financial Controller to monitor and control budget/forecast as a live weekly report
- Manage client relationships and pursue growth opportunities (VOs, TQs, EWRs and schedule)
- Direct the Supply Chain team to ensure long-lead items are specified and procured to meet schedule and cost
- Own the handover from proposal to project, writing the Project Execution Plan and controlling contractual scope and variations
- Raise payment applications, follow up on invoicing, and ensure contractual documentation is delivered on time and in full
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate and motivate the project team, acting as the main point of contact for the client
- Coach and mentor project team members
- Deliver internal and external presentations to senior management and clients
- Manage site safety, ensuring punch list/snag items are closed quickly
Reporting, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Drive and expedite engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, installation, commissioning and handover to hit schedule
- Manage quality investigations and help close QIs/non-conformance reports
- Produce weekly and monthly reporting on KPIs, metrics and PVA tracking
- Champion the project management process and continuous improvement, escalating issues as needed
- Lead project sign-off and close-out (cost, schedule, scope, quality), capturing lessons learned and helping maintain project management processes with the Project Engineering Manager
People Management
- Manage day-to-day team performance, engagement and wellbeing, addressing issues early
- Lead annual performance management activities for the team
- Ensure team members are technically competent and demonstrate the required behavioural competencies
Zero Harm, Competence & Behaviours
- Lead the team in complying with px Group Zero Harm standards and the Zero Harm Charter
- Demonstrate and manage compliance with MP1 behaviours under the px Behavioural Competency Framework
- Complete the px Management Development Programme and keep line reports' competence up to date
The Person
- Degree qualified, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering
- Strong project experience with a formal Project Management qualification (PMP or equivalent)
- Project management experience in an engineering environment, ideally heavy engineering (large lifts, heavy steelwork)
- Effective at planning, monitoring and reviewing
- Understanding of engineering drawings and specifications, ideally with a formal engineering qualification
- Strong computer and scheduling skills, preferably MS Project/P6, with MRP experience (SAP preferred)
