Job summary

Leonardo has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineering Lead at our Southampton site to lead the Airborne Communication system work on GCAP. You will manage a multi-disciplinary team and ensure compliance with customer requirements, contractual, and regulatory standards.

The role requires strong leadership, communication skills, and experience with hardware electronics, firmware, and communications systems, with BPSS/NSV considerations potential. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or related science (essential).
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams with schedule and budget responsibility.
• Strong understanding of engineering lifecycles and processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (essential).
• Experience with hardware electronics, firmware, mechanical and software products (essential).
• Experience with communications systems (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams across multiple projects.
• Create clear engineering plans with milestones and risk tracking.
• Review and adapt plans to manage cost, schedule, and performance.
• Prepare monthly engineering status reports for the Head of Engineering Projects.
• Coordinate engineering input into bids as part of business winning.
• Represent engineering on IPT management team and progress meetings.
