Job summary

Leonardo UK in Southampton is seeking a Principal or Lead Systems Engineer for the Naval Systems IPT, providing technical leadership across RF, Comms and networking domains. The role focuses on owning system solutions, governance and cross-team collaboration to deliver compliant, high-performance products.

You will engage with customers, manage technical risks, and mentor junior engineers while contributing to a broad pipeline of initiatives and technology demonstrators within a defence context.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of complex military products.
• Experience in IP networking, RF or Comms domains.
• Experience with Requirements, Test, Qualification and Acceptance strategies.
• Experience in Design Configuration Management.
• Experience in Design Certification and Customer Acceptance.
• Ability to develop technically compliant solutions within budgets and timescales.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills across nationalities.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical solution for your system or sub-system through all phases of development.
• Act as technical lead ensuring governance and adherence to processes.
• Collaborate with SDA, development teams and supply chain to meet requirements and user needs.
• Ensure compliance with performance, legislative, and contractual requirements with traceable evidence.
