Job summary

VGC is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for a 6-9 month contract in Solihull. You will manage day-to-day engineering activities on site, provide technical support to the project team, and ensure works meet drawings and specifications.

The role involves setting out, surveying and coordinating with subcontractors and stakeholders. Experience in civil engineering, site delivery, and quality assurance is essential, with highways/major infrastructure exposure being highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Senior Engineer, Project Engineer or Site Engineer.
• Strong civil engineering and site delivery experience.
• Excellent understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience managing and coordinating subcontractors.
• Highways or major infrastructure experience is desirable.
• Ability to identify and resolve technical and construction issues.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate day-to-day engineering activities on site.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the wider project team.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Review drawings, designs and technical information ahead of construction.
• Oversee setting out, surveying and engineering checks where required.
• Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, designers and other stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve technical issues to maintain progress.
• Support the preparation and review of RAMS, ITPs and relevant construction documentation.
• Carry out quality inspections and maintain accurate engineering records.
• Monitor subcontractor activities and ensure works meet required standards.
• Assist with planning, sequencing and coordination of works.
• Maintain as-built information and site documentation.
• Ensure engineering activities are undertaken in line with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
