Job summary

VGC in Solihull is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for a 6-9 month contract on a major highways project. You will manage day-to-day engineering activities on site and coordinate with subcontractors and the design team.

The role requires a strong background in civil engineering, setting out and surveying, and the ability to review drawings and technical information ahead of construction. You will ensure works meet drawings, specs and RAMS.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Senior Engineer, Project Engineer or experienced Site Engineer.
• Strong civil engineering and site delivery experience.
• Highways or major infrastructure experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and engineering standards.
• Good setting out and surveying knowledge.
• Experience managing and coordinating subcontractors.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate day-to-day engineering activities on site.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the wider project team.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Review drawings, designs and technical information ahead of construction.
• Oversee setting out, surveying and engineering checks where required.

• Identify and resolve technical issues to maintain progress.
• Support the preparation and review of RAMS, ITPs and relevant construction documentation.
• Carry out quality inspections and maintain accurate engineering records.
• Monitor subcontractor activities and ensure works meet required standards.
• Assist with planning, sequencing and coordination of works.
• Maintain as-built information and site documentation.
• Ensure engineering activities are undertaken in line with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
