Elevation Engineering Division is working with an industrial gases business that serves a range of industries including power generation, healthcare, and manufacturing. They are seeking a Senior Project Engineer in the South Yorkshire region.

The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for:

  1. Supporting the execution and delivery of projects safely, on budget, and on time.
  2. Ensuring project designs and costs are competitive and fit for purpose to support business objectives, including delivering returns and winning new third-party sales, while balancing SHEQ requirements.
  3. Identifying and reporting project risks, supporting the implementation of project strategies, managing variations to increase sales, and controlling supplier/contractor variations.
  4. Planning and coordinating engineering resources (internal and external) to execute projects.
  5. Developing project proposals to secure financial approval for budgets.
  6. Ensuring contractors understand and own SHEQ strategies and comply with statutory and company requirements.
  7. Building effective relationships with key customers and suppliers to maintain a customer-focused approach.
  8. Maintaining good communication with customers throughout the project lifecycle and acting on feedback.
  9. Managing site construction activities, including contractor control, permits to work, working at height, plant and equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and documentation such as as-built data and health and safety files.

SHEQ Responsibilities:

  1. Managing resources to ensure activities are performed safely and effectively within legislative and management system frameworks (e.g., BOC standards, Health & Safety at Work Act, regulations like COMAH, COSHH, WSOE, PSSR, ISO standards).
  2. Ensuring contractors are trained, competent, and capable of fulfilling SHEQ responsibilities, with practical competency assessments completed.
  3. Proactively leading safety improvements, setting high SHEQ standards, and owning operational risks with appropriate control measures.
  4. Maintaining SHEQ metrics for projects, including leading and lagging indicators.

Key Skills & Knowledge:

  1. Effective team player with the ability to operate independently and drive success.
  2. Strong communication skills to work with multiple stakeholders and sponsors.
  3. Proficiency in MS Office, SAP, CAD, SharePoint, Microsoft PPM.
  4. Ability to analyze costs and manage budgets.
  5. Skill in scope development and supporting project delivery.
  6. Knowledge of engineering practices, contracting, project management, and industry standards.
  7. Financial awareness and reporting skills.
  8. Basic risk management understanding.
  9. Knowledge of health and safety legislation, including PSSR and CDM regulations.
  10. Engineering degree or HNC/HND in mechanical or electrical disciplines, or equivalent.
  11. Experience in industrial gases, hydrogen, or nuclear power sectors.
  12. Proven track record in project engineering, delivering projects on time, within budget, and to SHEQ standards.
  13. Membership in professional bodies like IMechE, APM, IET, with progress toward Chartership.
