About You

In your current role, you're likely to be managing the full project lifecycle — from writing client proposals to technical delivery — often juggling multiple concurrent projects, particularly within feasibility analysis and concept design. You’re already acting as a technical lead, defining the right approach to client challenges before guiding teams through design, simulation, prototyping, and testing.

You're also invested in team development — mentoring junior engineers, reviewing work, and supporting professional growth. And your projects don’t just get done — they’re done well. The Role

We’re seeking a Senior Project Engineer to help deliver world-class technology solutions and lead multi-disciplinary engineering projects from concept to commercial rollout. Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

• Oversee multiple multi-discipline projects, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timeline.
• Drive continuous improvement of our technology in collaboration with Field Services, enhancing efficiency and reducing cost.

Technical Contribution:

• Engineer critical components of nuron’s technology, ensuring all outputs are well-documented and field ready.
• Conduct research, technical analysis, and report writing to support project outcomes.
• Develop creative design solutions that add real value to our customers' infrastructure
• Implement quality assurance processes and work closely with manufacturing partners.

Stakeholder Communication:

• Engage with internal teams and external partners to facilitate project progress.
• Own supplier relationships — from sourcing components to managing tooling, jigs, and fixtures for final assembly.

Resource and Budget Management:

• Ensure projects are executed efficiently within allocated budgets.

Documentation:

• Prepare reports, research summaries, and technical documents in a clear and digestible manner.
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to projects.
• Contribute to team standards, engineering best practices, and our internal culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Foster a culture of world-class safety, customer service, and innovation.

Requirements

• Approximately 10 years’ experience in engineering or technical disciplines, with a proven track record of delivering complex, multi-disciplinary projects
• A strong technical engineering background, grounded in practical, real-world application
• Proficiency with 3D modelling and CAD systems, including the ability to amend, control, and perform quality assurance on technical drawings
• A clear ability to communicate design intent to a wide range of stakeholders — technical and non-technical alike
• Experience managing people and projects, ideally within small, agile engineering teams
• A self-reliant, proactive work style, balanced with strong collaboration and leadership skills
• The ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement, bringing structure and control without stifling innovation or creativity
• Solid experience in problem-solving within complex systems
• A pragmatic, hands-on mindset with comfort navigating uncertainty and ambiguity
• Practical competence with hand tools and general machining tools
• Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written
• A strong eye for detail, ensuring quality and consistency
• Confidence using the Microsoft Office suite to support project planning, reporting, and documentation

Desirable but not essential

• Experience with Autodesk would be preferable.
• Optical fibre or telecoms experience
• Experience producing benchtop prototypes and proving ideas in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in mass-production or value engineering design or management
