Job summary

National Grid is hiring a Project Development Engineer to lead the pre-construction delivery of complex network investment projects across multiple UK sites, including Leeds and London. You will drive option selection, feasibility studies and regulatory submissions to secure funding.

In this role you will manage multi-disciplinary teams, analyze cost-benefit scenarios, and ensure compliance with CDM and SHESQ standards while maintaining strong customer and stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and health, safety, environmental policies.
• Proven knowledge of Electricity Transmission System and related infrastructure.
• Experience in project management across cost, risk, safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and pre-construction delivery of complex network investment projects from concept to approval.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to validate requirements and strategic objectives.
• Develop, cost and evaluate investment options using cost-benefit analysis.
• Engage customers and stakeholders to develop best-fit solutions and maintain relationships.
• Prepare regulatory and governance submissions to secure investment approval and funding.
• Lead multi-disciplinary scheme teams with risk, budget and programme management.
• Ensure designs comply with CDM and SHESQ standards and manage design risks.
• Conduct feasibility studies, FEED and supporting regulatory activities.
• Coordinate with delivery, land, consents and operations to plan outages and scopes.
• Monitor performance, capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
