Job summary

Marc Daniels Specialist Recruitment is partnering with a rapidly growing business to recruit a Senior Project Accountant to join its Finance team. This hands-on role covers project accounting, CAPEX, project costing, month-end, and commercial finance support in a dynamic environment.

The position suits a technically strong accountant with solid project experience, confident in owning month-end processes and providing commercial insight to project and business leaders in a fast-scaling company

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Experience as Project Accountant or similar with CAPEX exposure.
• Strong month-end background and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own project accounting across a portfolio of capital and operational projects.
• Lead CAPEX accounting, including capitalisation, WIP tracking, asset lives, and reconciliations.
• Drive project costing activities: budget vs actuals, cost accruals, variance analysis, forecasting, and margin analysis.
• Take full ownership of month-end for project-related ledgers: accruals, prepayments, reclasses, revenue recognition, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyse monthly project reports, highlighting movements in cost, margin, and cash flow for management accounts.
• Partner with Commercial Finance, Project Managers, and Operations to challenge assumptions and influence commercial decisions.
• Support audit requirements with schedules, reconciliations, and commentary on project accounting treatments.
• Identify and implement process improvements in project accounting, CAPEX controls, and reporting as the business scales.
