Job summary

The Economist Group in London is seeking an experienced Senior Programme Editor for a 12-month contract role. You will lead programme development for both digital events and in-person conferences, coordinating speaker invitations and on-site delivery.

You will work with editorial and commercial teams to ensure high-quality content, develop strategic portfolios, and build relationships with governments and industry bodies across markets. Hybrid working with 3+ days in office.

Qualifications

• Experience as a programme editor or conference producer.
• Significant experience in event programme creation, editorial or a related field.
• Strong primary and secondary research skills.
• Excellent organisation and time-management abilities.
• Proven experience mentoring content creators.
• Strong commercial acumen and client management skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to influence, persuade, negotiate and build rapport.
• Strong written communication for conference content.

Responsibilities

• Lead programme development for digital events and in-person conferences.
• Develop speaker lists, manage invitations, brief speakers and moderators.
• Oversee strategic portfolios and contribute to revenue growth.
• Ensure editorial independence while collaborating with the commercial team.
• Establish relationships with governments and industry bodies in key markets.
• Mentor junior team members and provide guidance as needed.
• Coordinate cross-functional work with Sales, Marketing and Operations.
