Job summary

The Economist is seeking an experienced Senior Programme Editor for a 12-month contract based in London. You will lead programme development for digital events and in-person conferences, coordinating speaker selection, briefings, and on-site delivery.

You will work with editorial, commercial, and operations teams to drive quality content while building influential industry relationships and mentoring junior staff. Hybrid working with 3+ days in the office is standard.

Qualifications

• Experience as a programme editor or conference producer.
• Strong editorial and research capabilities for event content.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead programme development for digital events and conferences.
• Develop speaker lists, brief moderators, and manage on-site delivery.
• Collaborate with editorial and commercial teams while maintaining editorial independence.
• Build relationships with governments and industry bodies in key markets.
• Mentor junior team members and steer projects to timely delivery.
