Job Description:

Location: Prudhoe (near Newcastle upon Tyne)

Hours of work: Full time (37.5 hours per week) with the option of overtime available. 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday with flexibility to work overtime when occasionally required. Must have a valid UK driving licence.

Offer package: £13.50 per hour (which is £26,325 per year and negotiable depending on relevant experience), bonus, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, private healthcare, free breakfast and freshly cooked lunch from our on-site chef, 4% pension match, and more.

OpenWorks Engineering develops CUAS, Air Defence, and Optical Surveillance, Sensing, and Tracking Technology for Defence and Security.

Main responsibilities:

  • Assist the production team with the assembly and testing of autonomous optics and SkyWall products
  • Assemble and test intricate electro-mechanical camera systems in a clean room environment
  • Conduct thorough debugging of systems and equipment to identify and resolve issues efficiently
  • Assist in training Junior Technicians, sharing knowledge on best practices and technical skills
  • Pack nets
  • Re-build shot projectiles from testing and training
  • Join outdoor field testing
  • Assist with user training activities

  • A valid driving licence (to drive our vehicles on occasion)
  • A demonstrable level of experience from a similar manufacturing setting
  • Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical hand tools
  • A positive and proactive attitude, highly collaborative and professional
  • Strong team-working skills with the ability to thrive in a small, closely-knit, and dedicated team
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills
  • A self-motivated mindset and the ability to work independently
