Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Cwmbran, United Kingdom, seeks a Product Engineering Specialist for the Meritor – Sustaining Department. You will lead design, development and qualification of subsystems and components across the product life cycle.

The role requires strong CAD, vehicle dynamics, FEA, and manufacturing method knowledge, plus coordination with engineers, suppliers and manufacturing to deliver robust solutions on time.

Qualifications

• Design and apply open/closed-loop control systems across multi‑stage life cycle.
• Experience with product configuration and change management across full PLM.
• Strong mechanical systems knowledge for robust designs meeting customer requirements.
• Ability to create complete mechanical design specs, BOMs, and detailed drawings.
• Excellent communication, presentation and report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive high-quality product development across subsystem and component levels.
• Coordinate between product line engineers, systems teams, customers, purchasing, suppliers and manufacturing.
• Translate stakeholder input into technical recommendations for design, test and project execution.
• Apply engineering methods to progress projects while maintaining safety and performance standards.
• Lead application of engineering processes and tools to strengthen decision-making.
• Own components or small projects with accountability and clear deliverables.
• Develop and improve work processes within the functional discipline.
• Provide technical guidance to technicians, students, and junior engineers.
