Job summary

Search Consultancy Ltd is seeking a hands-on Senior Procurement Manager for Power & Energy Infrastructure in Newport, Wales. The role is flexible/hybrid with a daily rate up to £600, starting 9 November 2026 and ending 9 April 2027.

Senior Procurement Manager - Power & Energy Infrastructure

Location: Newport, Wales (Flexible / Hybrid)

Rate: Up to 600 per day

Start Date: 9 November 2026

Contract End: 9 April 2027

Working Pattern: 5 days per week

We are recruiting a hands-on Senior Procurement Manager to support our client in rapidly developing and embedding its procurement function across pre-construction and project delivery.

This contract will focus on establishing an approved supply chain, implementing a Preferred Supplier List (PSL) and putting practical procurement processes in place to improve commercial control and build strategic supplier partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and implement an approved supply chain and Preferred Supplier List (PSL).
• Introduce practical procurement tools, processes and governance.
• Identify priority suppliers and develop strategic supply chain partnerships.
• Establish framework agreements and call-off mechanisms where appropriate.
• Implement supplier relationship management and performance monitoring processes.
• Align procurement processes with pre-construction and site delivery teams.
• Improve procurement compliance while maintaining a practical, delivery-focused approach.

Essential experience

• Procurement leadership within infrastructure, utilities or major projects.
• Proven experience establishing PSLs, frameworks and supplier management processes.
• Experience embedding procurement governance in developing or low-maturity environments.
• Strong stakeholder management and the ability to deliver change at pace.

Experience in power transmission and distribution, substations, NEC3/NEC4 contracts and subcontract procurement would be advantageous. MCIPS or equivalent practical experience is desirable.

Flexible & hybrid working is available, with travel to key hubs including Newport and Birmingham, as well as project sites when required.
