An exciting opportunity has been created for a Procurement Manager to join a rapidly growing power and utilities delivery organisation operating across major Transmission & Distribution and substation programmes.

With the business set to triple in scale over the next few years, procurement plays a critical role in enabling growth, strengthening supply chains, and supporting the ambition to become a contractor and employer of choice. This role sits at the heart of that transformation.

Role Summary

Reporting into senior procurement leadership, you will take ownership of procurement delivery across a major substation-focused workstream, supporting both live projects and future frameworks.

You will be responsible for implementing procurement strategies and work package plans, managing key supplier relationships, and ensuring the cost-effective, compliant, and resilient sourcing of materials, services, and subcontracted works. The role requires close collaboration with commercial, project, construction, and central procurement teams.

Alongside delivery, you will play a key role in shaping ways of working, embedding best practice, and supporting the wider evolution of the Power T&D procurement function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement procurement strategies aligned to business growth, efficiency, and risk management objectives
  • Lead and support tendering activities across power and substation projects
  • Manage supplier relationships, performance, and commercial compliance
  • Work closely with commercial and legal teams to support contract negotiations
  • Apply working knowledge of NEC subcontract and commercial processes
  • Act as the primary procurement interface for project stakeholders
  • Support project delivery schedules and manage supply chain risks
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, sustainability, and governance standards
  • Contribute to procurement risk assessments and mitigation planning
  • Lead, mentor, and develop procurement team members
  • Support senior procurement leadership with wider functional strategy and change initiatives
Required Experience
  • Proven procurement professional with end-to-end procurement experience
  • Background in power, utilities, infrastructure, or construction environments
  • Experience working with both materials suppliers and subcontractors
  • Strong supplier relationship and supply chain management capability
  • Confident stakeholder manager with a collaborative, credible approach
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving project environments
  • Working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts
  • Strong commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • MCIPS (or working towards), relevant degree, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Willing to travel across the UK to support suppliers and project teams
Location & Flexibility
  • Derby-based role (3 days per week on site)
  • Regular UK travel for supplier engagement and project meetings
  • Future opportunity to operate from a new Leeds hub
Why Join
  • Join a rapidly scaling £900m+ power infrastructure business unit
  • Long-term visibility across major substation and T&D programmes
  • Opportunity to influence procurement strategy during a period of transformation
  • Strong leadership support and clear development pathways
  • A role offering genuine impact, autonomy, and career progression
