Job summary

Hart Process Services Ltd is seeking a Senior/Principal Process Engineer to lead a design team on complex projects for chemical, pharmaceutical, life science and food/beverage sectors. The role combines office-based design work at Heaton Mersey with occasional site engagements, requiring strong technical leadership and delivery to budget and schedule.

The candidate should have a chemical engineering degree, IChemE Chartered status, and a proven track record across concept to detailed design,

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Proven relevant Process Engineering experience.
• Proven ability to work successfully with multi-discipline teams.
• Proven ability to work to UK, international, company and client standards.
• Proven ability to lead small process design teams and work independently.
• Experience of project stages from concept through to detailed design.
• Experience of working on site and commissioning.
• Chartered Engineer status (IChemE).

Responsibilities

• Generation, development and maintenance of PFDs, P&IDs and other process drawings.
• Generation of process calculations: heat/mass balances, hydraulics, reliefs, vents & overflows.
• Generation of equipment data sheets and specifications.
• Scheduling process plant items from project P&IDs with instrument data.
• Creation of process descriptions, control philosophies, basis of design, safety documents.
• Lead design reviews (P&ID reviews, model/layout reviews).
• Participation in safety reviews such as HAZOP/LOPA.
• Hazardous Area Classification calculations and reporting to standards.
• Liaison with other engineering disciplines and vendors.
• Adherence to UK/international standards and API guides.
• Development of process calculation templates and deliverables.
• Lead small project teams or work independently on small/medium projects.
• Manage deliverables, cost progress and proposals input.
• Mentor junior engineers.
