We're working with an ambitious and well-funded cleantech company based in West London, currently seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support the scale-up and commercialisation of their novel hydrogen technology.

The Role

As Senior Process Engineer, you'll be responsible for driving process engineering activities across a unique electrochemical platform. Working closely with the internal tech team, partners, and vendors, you'll lead the development and integration of systems operating under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and deliver process engineering design (PFDs, P&IDs, mass/energy balances)

  • Develop specifications for equipment and instrumentation

  • Perform detailed design calculations and process modelling

  • Collaborate with subcontractors and partners to drive progress toward TRL6 by 2026 and pilot-scale delivery by 2027

  • Support procurement, hazard/risk assessments, and safety-focused design

  • Assist with lab-scale testing and contribute to scaling efforts

  • Take part in bid writing and customer-facing proposal work

What They're Looking For

Essential:
  • MSc (or higher) in Chemical/Process Engineering

  • Experience working with high-pressure/high-temperature systems and flammable gases

  • Proficiency in process modelling tools (e.g., Aspen, HYSYS, PRO II, or Unisim)

  • Proven delivery of projects across the full lifecycle: feasibility through to operations

  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, safety-first mindset

  • Comfortable in a start-up environment with self-starting, problem-solving attitude

Desirable:
  • Background in electrolysis, fuel cells, or hydrogen system design

  • Experience working with supercritical water or oxygen systems

  • Familiarity with thermal design tools (e.g., HTRI) and CFD

  • Chartered status

Benefits & Perks
  • Equity participation through a tax-efficient share scheme

  • 25 days holiday + public holidays (option to buy 5 more)

  • Birthdays off & milestone celebrations

  • Flexible working hours and location (including working abroad)

  • Monthly team days & lunch outings

  • 3 months full paid parental leave (maternity and paternity)

  • Professional development budget + fees covered
