Job summary
Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer - Modelling & Simulation for unmanned systems in Winnersh/Hybrid UK. You will lead modelling, simulation, and control activities across the full lifecycle from concept to field demonstrations.
You will design high-fidelity 6-DOF models, develop autonomy functions, validate with SIL/HIL and lead engineering mentors. This role demands deep knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and embedded deployment, with international travel as needed.
Qualifications
- Degree in STEM or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in aerospace/defense/unmanned systems environments.
- Expert capability in MATLAB and Simulink.
- Strong Stateflow experience for state-machine driven system design.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink code generation for embedded deployment.
Responsibilities
- Lead modelling, simulation and control activities for complex unmanned systems.
- Design high-fidelity 6-DOF models of unmanned systems and validate mission performance.
- Develop, test, tune and deploy flight-critical control laws and autonomy functions.
- Build simulation environments integrating dynamics, sensors and networks.
- Support SIL/HIL testing and Iron Bird activities.
- Define onboard data interfaces and deploy code onto embedded systems.
- Mentor junior engineers and guide design, verification and validation activities.
