Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior or Principal Traffic Signals Engineer. The role involves leading design delivery, coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs, liaising with clients and driving project budgets. Flexibility exists around base locations in the UK with hybrid working options.

You will lead junior staff, oversee technical outputs (Civils 3D, KeySignals) and ensure compliance with design codes, CDM and QA processes. A strong track record in traffic engineering is essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience of traffic signal design across project life cycles.
• Experience with local transport modelling and controller configuration (TR2500).
• Experience with SCOOT and MOVA design, implementation and validation is advantageous.
• Experience leading design disciplines in projects (road/public transport/active travel).
• Experience with contract documents and administration or site supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day technical delivery of highway consultancy projects.
• Manage traffic signal projects ensuring coordination of multi-disciplinary inputs.
• Liaise with clients, develop strong relationships and manage expectations.
• Perform project technical lead and reviewer roles.
• Support team to maximise contribution to project goals.
• Prepare fee proposals and manage project budgets.
• Lead and mentor junior staff on traffic signal design packages.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and QA standards.
