Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. seeks a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design of major water and wastewater projects in the North West.

You’ll guide technical direction across programmes, mentoring engineers and shaping project delivery with clients and teams. Based in Manchester or Warrington, you’ll oversee feasibility through commissioning, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes while supporting growth of the regional Mechanical Engineering

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng).
• Significant experience delivering mechanical engineering solutions within the UK water sector.
• Strong experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex projects.
• Experience producing and reviewing technical specifications, calculations and mechanical designs.
• Excellent stakeholder management and client relationship skills.
• Experience mentoring, developing and line managing engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of national water/wastewater projects.
• Provide technical governance and QA across project teams.
• Act as advisor to clients and support key decisions.
• Lead multidisciplinary design reviews with PMs, contractors and supply chain.
• Provide line management and development for engineers in the region.
• Support business growth through client engagement and innovation.
