Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the delivery of mechanical design for water and wastewater infrastructure in the North West. You will manage design packages from feasibility to commissioning, guiding multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with technical standards.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with clients and contractors, and drive innovative, sustainable solutions across AMP8 programmes in Manchester or Warrington.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or working towards.
• Experience in UK water sector or regulated infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of water/wastewater systems.
• Experience delivering design packages across multidisciplinary projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities across water/wastewater works and infrastructure.
• Produce and review mechanical calculations, specs, reports and documents.
• Deliver projects from feasibility through detailed design, construction and commissioning.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient engineering solutions.
• Mentor and support junior engineers to strengthen technical excellence.
• Develop relationships with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders for successful delivery.
