About the Role

The Senior Principal Cost Controls Specialist is responsible for solving complex problems affecting project performance. They proactively identify issues and develop solutions within the field of Cost Management, influencing project direction and resource allocation. This client-facing role requires regular travel to the Milan office and involves conceptual and innovative thinking to address costing challenges.

Responsibilities
  1. Interpret project contracts and assist the Project Director in their application.
  2. Contribute to the Project Execution Plan.
  3. Coordinate financial, contractual, and administrative issues with Project Accounting.
  4. Ensure proper setup of project tasks.
  5. Support the compilation and review of project invoices.
  6. Monitor project costs and revenues; prepare reports as required.
  7. Negotiate and agree on costs and revenues with clients and subcontractors.
  8. Maintain Project Controls systems.
  9. Support development of claims and back charges against subcontractors and vendors.
  10. Develop the monthly project Estimate at Completion (EAC).
  11. Assist in preparing financial and contractual correspondence related to Project Controls.
  12. Maintain accurate records of financial and contractual matters.
  13. Monitor key project dates against contractual deadlines.
  14. Prepare contract supplements.
  15. Participate in meetings on cost, progress, technical, and contractual issues.
  16. Lead the Change Management process.
  17. Manage Project Risk and Opportunity Management (PROM).
  18. Prepare the project close-out report.
  19. Oversee cost and progress functions.
  20. Support regional and global Project Controls with ad hoc tasks.
  21. Collaborate with other personnel to improve schedules, estimates, and strategies.
  22. Support bid efforts as needed.
  23. Ensure compliance with McDermott systems and processes.
Qualifications
  1. Degree in Engineering, Construction, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum 12+ years of experience in project control activities.
  3. Supervisory experience in a matrix environment, with progressive contractor experience.
  4. Strong background in the oil and gas industry.
  5. Familiarity with Primavera P6.
