Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Senior Primary Design Engineer to lead high-quality primary designs for HV substations and power infrastructure within a FTSE 250 environment.

You will mentor junior engineers, interface with clients and project teams, and ensure designs meet UK/ international standards, safety, and client specs.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in primary design for HV substations (33kV–400kV).
• Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of primary engineering solutions for HV substations and associated infrastructure.
• Produce and review primary design deliverables including layouts, GA drawings, equipment specifications, and technical reports.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, client specifications, and safety requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, checking, and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support project planning, cost estimates, and risk assessment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
