Job summary

Kenton Black Limited is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join a Midlands region team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on coordinating the preconstruction process from enquiry to tender submission and contract award, leading multidisciplinary tender teams and developing robust bid strategies.

The ideal candidate will have strong civil engineering knowledge and proven preconstruction/tender management experience, with a background in main contracting and buildability

Qualifications

• Experience leading tenders from enquiry to contract award.
• Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering and infrastructure.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary bid teams.

Responsibilities

• Managing the preconstruction and tender process from enquiry through to submission.
• Leading multidisciplinary tender teams across estimating, commercial, design, planning, procurement and operations.
• Developing effective and competitive tender strategies.
• Reviewing tender documentation, specifications, drawings and project requirements.
• Providing technical input into tenders, construction methodologies and delivery strategies.
• Assessing project buildability, logistics, sequencing and construction methodology.
• Working closely with design teams to identify buildability, value engineering and technical solutions.
• Developing and reviewing construction methodologies and technical submissions.
• Supporting the development of programmes and project delivery strategies.
• Identifying technical, commercial and construction risks throughout the tender process.
• Coordinating subcontractor and supply-chain engagement.
• Working closely with estimating and commercial teams to develop robust bids.
• Preparing and reviewing technical submissions, methodologies and tender deliverables.
• Leading tender adjudications and supporting senior management through the approval process.
• Ensuring an effective handover from preconstruction into the delivery team following contract award.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply-chain partners.
