Job summary

Jane Gorse Recruitment Limited is seeking a Senior Commercial Business Partner (Pre-Contract) for a six-month fixed-term contract. The role requires oversight of tenders, contracts and commercial risk across major projects, with hybrid work options near Warrington, Coventry, Addlestone or Bathgate.

The successful candidate will bring senior pre-contract or QS experience, strong negotiation skills and a background in construction or infrastructure, to support revenue profitability and governance

Qualifications

• Significant senior commercial/pre-contract or QS experience.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating complex contracts.
• Background in construction, engineering or infrastructure.
• Experience supporting multimillion-pound tenders and projects.
• Excellent commercial judgement and risk communication.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to challenge constructively and influence decisions.
• A relevant commercial, Quantity Surveying, construction or legal qualification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial review of tenders, bids and customer contracts.
• Assess contractual terms, pricing structures and commercial viability.
• Identify financial, contractual and operational risks before contract award.
• Develop risk‑mitigation strategies.
• Support commercial negotiations with customers and stakeholders.
• Provide clear advice and recommendations to senior management.
• Work with sales, estimating, legal, finance and operations teams.
• Review proposed departures, liabilities, warranties, payment terms and obligations.
• Ensure commercial governance and approval processes are followed.
• Support the handover of awarded contracts to operations and improve processes.
