Job summary

Equals One Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Practice Accountant to manage a portfolio of SME clients from Leeds. The role offers hybrid working (3 days in the Leeds office, 2 days from home) and a salary range of £38,000–£42,000 plus commission, reflecting experience and performance.

You'll handle year-end accounts, tax returns, VAT, bookkeeping and management accounts, with autonomy and direct client contact. Opportunities for advisory work may arise for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accountancy practice with responsibility for own work.
• Experience preparing year-end accounts for SMEs
• Experience preparing corporation tax returns
• Experience with VAT, bookkeeping and management accounts
• Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and client relationship skills
• Commercial mindset and business understanding
• ACA/ACCA or equivalent qualification

Responsibilities

• Prepare year-end accounts for limited companies, LLPs, sole traders and partnerships
• Prepare and submit corporation tax and partnership tax returns
• Review accounts, tax returns and bookkeeping
• Prepare and submit VAT returns
• Produce bookkeeping and management accounts
• Manage your own portfolio and meet deadlines
• Communicate directly with clients and respond to day-to-day queries
• Help clients understand their accounts, tax position and business performance
• Identify ways to improve processes and the overall client experience
• Collaborate with the wider team
• There may be opportunities to handle personal tax and advisory work depending on experience
