Job summary

Macstaff is seeking a Senior/Principal Power Systems Engineer to lead complex electrical power studies for data centre and critical infrastructure projects in the UK, with hybrid working from London or Manchester.

You will deliver load flow, short circuit and protection coordination studies, develop LV/MV/HV solutions, mentor junior engineers, and drive technical delivery across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or similar.
• Chartered Engineer or progressing towards chartership.
• Experience in power systems design, analysis and project delivery.
• Strong in load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash and transient studies.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex power system studies and network analysis.
• Deliver load flow and short circuit studies.
• Coordinate protection coordination and discrimination studies.
• Perform arc flash assessments and transient analysis.
• Develop robust LV/MV/HV distribution solutions.
• Utilise ETAP, SKM, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or equivalents.
• Support electrical infrastructure, resilience and grid connection strategies.
• Produce high quality calculations, reports and documentation.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams; manage client relationships.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers; lead technical delivery at Principal level.
