Job summary

PhysicsX Ltd. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Platform SRE Core Infrastructure team in a hybrid London setup. You will design, provision and operate shared infrastructure powering the PhysicsX platform, spanning multi-cloud and on‑prem environments, with emphasis on reliability and scalability.

The role requires deep Kubernetes expertise, Terraform and Crossplane proficiency, and strong secrets management. Hybrid work from our Shoreditch office with remote days is offered.

Qualifications

• Extensive Kubernetes production experience with focus on reliability and isolation.
• Hands-on Crossplane design and production-grade deployments.
• Terraform at scale including state management and CI integration.
• Experience with Vault or cloud-native secret stores and dynamic provisioning.
• Familiarity with Istio service mesh and networking patterns.
• Experience writing lightweight Kubernetes Operators in Go or Python.

Responsibilities

• Own design and operation of core infrastructure across multi-cloud and on-prem environments.
• Manage Kubernetes clusters for single and multi-tenant workloads with strong isolation.
• Implement infrastructure provisioning via Crossplane and Terraform modules.
• Develop and maintain secret provisioning, rotation and access controls.
• Manage GPU driver configurations and accelerated compute node pools.
• Oversee cluster networking design and cross-cluster connectivity.
• Develop lightweight Operators for automation of lifecycle tasks.
• Set SLOs and lead incident response for core infra components.
• Collaborate with security and platform teams on governance and policies.
• Contribute to engineering standards and improve developer experience.
