Job summary

Funding Circle is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead platform capabilities for internal teams and SaaS, enabling product teams to move fast and predictably. You’ll shape high-level design, standards, and technology decisions while mentoring engineers and collaborating with product teams.

London-based with a hybrid model (2 days in the office). The role emphasizes Generative AI, architecture, and driving commercial outcomes through scalable platform solutions. Competitive salary and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Engineering leader who can solve high-level problems and deep-dive into technical challenges.
• Technical lead for a platform domain, SaaS founding/lead engineer experience.
• Experience with internal platforms, and deciding when to centralise vs bespoke.
• Experience in Python, Ruby or Java.
• Advocate for empowered engineering teams with coaching and mentoring.
• Proven experience applying Generative AI to engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

• Take accountability for high-level solution design, standards, engineering performance, and technology decisions within your Group.
• You will have sound commercial acumen and understand how our platform drives customer and commercial outcomes.
• You proactively identify and leverage Generative AI tools to drive innovation and transform our engineering processes.
• You understand collaboration with customer facing product teams is vital for a successful platform and translate this into a target architecture.
• You can perform deep-dives and troubleshoot in a hands-on capacity, but enable teams rather than becoming a dependency.
• You have excellent stakeholder-management skills and can present technology solutions and risks across Funding Circle.
• You represent Funding Circle externally at events, sharing industry trends and attracting talent.
