Job summary

Funding Circle in London is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to join the CRI Engineering team within the MPX group. You will provide technical authority and hands-on delivery for critical collections, recoveries, and investor-related systems built with Ruby, Clojure, and Python.

You will lead teams to deliver large initiatives, shape engineering standards, and drive end-to-end outcomes while collaborating with product and business partners in a hybrid London role.

Qualifications

• Technical leader with track record of owning complex, ambiguous delivery across team boundaries.
• Strong mentoring and coaching abilities with feedback culture.
• Strong instincts for spotting cross-team friction and resolving misalignment.
• Experience in at least one major programming language (e.g. Python, Ruby, Clojure).
• Recognised technical authority within domain with peers seeking adice and guidance.
• Proven ability to leverage AI tooling to raise the bar in building and shipping.

Responsibilities

• Lead your team to deliver large, complex initiatives and drive outcomes.
• Champion engineering-led improvements and shape engineering-wide standards including AI usage.
• Solve technical problems and act as a technical authority across Product Engineering.
• Drive technical strategy aligned with commercial outcomes and product needs.
• Collaborate with Engineering Manager and Product Manager to set technical/product vision.
• Drive architectural decisions for durability, scalability and security.
